Clearing a Wooded Point to Reclaim Mr. Rex's Cropland

Mr. Rex had a problem that costs farmers money every single season – a wooded point pushing into his field, plus 8-10 trees along the south boundary eating into usable acreage. He wanted that land back in production.

We cleared the point, removed the trees, coordinated hauling, and graded everything back to farmland. A high-pressure gas line ran through the work area, so every step required careful planning and execution.

THE SITUATION

Productive Land Lost to Creeping Woods

Mr. Rex farms in Northern Oklahoma. Over the years, a wooded point had crept out from the tree line and into his field. Another 8-10 trees along the south end made his equipment runs inefficient and reduced his plantable acres.

He needed the area cleared and returned to cropland. The catch: a marked high-pressure gas line crossed through the property. That meant no room for careless work or rushed decisions.

"That point had been creeping into my field for years. Every pass with the planter, I'm going around it. Every harvest, I'm losing yield on acres I should be farming."

THE WORK

From Wooded Point to Farmable Ground

Site Assessment and Gas Line Coordination

Before any equipment moved, we walked the property with Mr. Rex and identified the gas line markers. We established safe working distances and planned our approach to keep all heavy equipment clear of the line.

Tree Removal – South Boundary

We removed 8-10 designated trees along the south end of the field. These were hauled off-site by a trucking company rather than processed on-site—cleaner removal, no debris left behind.

Clearing the Wooded Point

The point extending from the woods into the field came out next. Brush, smaller trees, and undergrowth were cleared and consolidated for burning.

Burn Pit Construction and Debris Disposal

We dug a 35' x 45' burn pit on-site. Cleared brush and timber debris went into the pit for controlled burning over the following days.

Pit Filling and Final Grading

Once burning was complete, we filled the pit back in and graded the entire cleared area level with the surrounding field. No low spots, no mounds—ready for equipment to run straight across.

"The point was the main thing. That's where I was losing the most ground. They took it all out—trees, brush, roots, everything. Didn't leave anything behind that would cause problems when I'm running equipment through there."

CHALLENGE HANDLED

Working Around a High-Pressure Gas Line

The gas line crossing the property added a layer of complexity to every phase of the job. We maintained visual contact with the markers throughout clearing operations and kept excavation work well clear of the line’s path.

No incidents. No close calls. The line stayed protected, and the work got done.

Large brush fire on cleared land with dirt mounds.

"I told them about the gas line before they even started. They took it seriously - marked everything out, kept the heavy equipment away from it. I appreciated that they didn't treat it like an afterthought."

THE RESULTS

More Acres Back in Production

Wooded point fully cleared and removed from field

8-10 trees removed from south boundary and hauled off-site

35' x 45' burn pit excavated, used, filled, and graded flat

Entire cleared area graded level for farm equipment

High-pressure gas line protected throughout all operations

Land returned to productive cropland

"I've got more plantable acres now than I've had in years. The whole area is flat, clean, and ready to farm. They did exactly what they said they'd do."
